Should have done a lot better with Ronaldo's free kick as he allowed it to squeeze through his palms. Apart from that put in a very good performance as he made a string of saves in the second half.
Was caught under the ball time and time again which allowed Madrid to constantly get in behind on the right-hand side. Was booked in the second half for an obvious dive inside the Madrid box.
Got up and down the left flank all evening and forced Di Maria deep to receive possession. Showed a lot of attacking ambition but his final ball was left wanting.
Tested Diego Lopez early on with a glancing header that looked destined to nestle inside the post. Did well aerially and didn't give Benzema any scraps to work from.
Distributed the ball well from the back and was always looking to break out of defense. Struggled at times dealing with the movement of the Madrid front-line but put in a solid performance overall.
Made a couple of incisive bursting runs through the middle of the park, one of which lead to Ramos' yellow card and his determination oozed confidence throughout the team.
Was slightly lackadaisical in possession at times in the middle of the park but when he concentrated he distributed the ball accurately. Had a couple of teasing long-range strikes that went just by the post. Gave away the controversial penalty which cost Elche a point.
Should have got himself on the scoresheet as he got into two glorious positions inside the box, but sent one attempt over and hit a stale shot on the other. Substituted midway through the second period.
Manu del Moral
Got booked very early doors as he went in rashly on Di Maria and this affected his game somewhat as he was not as eager to close down the Madrid players. Showed some excellent touches in the final third.
Looked extremely bright in the opening 45 minutes and was causing danger with his pace and trickery. However, drifted out of the game terribly and was mostly a passenger in the second period.
Made a powerful run through the middle which should have lead to Ramos' second yellow card. Didn't have too much else to offer offensively, but put in a decent shift.
Denied Elche with a string of fantastic saves and showed why he should be Madrid's No.1. The pick of the bunch came early on as he denied Lomban's glancing header that looked certain to make the top corner.
Showed attacking ambition at times down the left but was not there often enough to act as an extra attacker. Plenty of room to run into but didn't seem too eager.
Did show attacking ambition but unfortunately the pace of attacks regularly slowed down as the ball came out to him. Was caught out of position poorly for Boakye's goal.
Right from the get-go he looked confident in possession and this allowed him to distribute the ball from the back. Kept Coro quiet throughout the game and headed everything out of the danger area.
Was extremely lucky to still be on the park at halftime as he should have saw a second yellow for a challenge on Coro. Bounced back well in the second period as he looked calmer at he back.
Á. di María
Looked bright in the opening stages as he was always getting in the face of the Elche defenders. However, final ball was very poor as he continually over-hit crosses and passes.
Usually prospers in his deeper position in midfield but couldn't get on the ball and dictate play as much as usual. Looked brighter after moving up the park after Isco's withdrawal.
Showed glimpses of his ability as he turned sharply and galloped towards goal a few times in the first half. However, his performance lacked that killer pass that has been a signature of his earlier appearances.
Managed to get his foot on a number of Elche through-balls which broke down some opposition attacks. However, simply does not have the same quality as his teammates on the ball and gave the ball away in the final third when attempting through passes.
Another limp performance up front from the Frenchman. His performance lacked a cohesion with the rest of the forward line and he looked to be on a different wavelength to everyone else.
Had a relatively subdued first half but burst into life in the second and eventually won the game for Madrid. Won and scored a free kick and dispatched the penalty expertly.
