D.C. United 1-1 Sporting Kansas City: United snaps seven-game losing streak

Kyle Porter scored his first MLS goal in the second half to secure a share of the points for the home side.

D.C. United recorded its first point since March 16, as it snapped a seven-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw against Sporting Kansas City at RFK Stadium Sunday.

D.C. United caught a major break 30 minutes into the game when a nifty SKC passing sequence in the box led to an easy tap-in by Ike Opara at the back post. As he spun around to celebrate, he saw the linesman's flag raised for offside. Unfortunately for SKC, replays showed the center back was actually onside by about four yards.

Fortune wasn't as kind to United 15 minutes into the second half, however. Graham Zusi's out-swinging corner kick went through traffic and bounced off an unsuspecting Ethan White's head, ricocheting in for an own goal.

The home side struck back just five minutes later. Halftime substitute Chris Pontius played a fantastic in-swinging cross from the left flank, and Kyle Porter was on hand to guide the ball home at the back post.

Recently called up by the U.S. national team, Bill Hamid produced a string of fine saves throughout the match, and ensured United's barren run came to an end.
