The Columbus Crew used a penalty to come from behind and take a point off of Houston in Ohio.
Warren Creavalle netted the game's first goal just over 30 minutes in. Kofi Sarkodie set up the goal with a surging run down the right, and Creavalle turned it home at full sprint with a nice volley to back post.
Columbus pulled level in the second half from the spot.
A good buildup from the Crew ended when Chad Barson's first touch took him around Houston's Andrew Driver, who pulled Barson down as he went past. Federico Higuain stepped up and knocked home the equalizer from the resulting penalty in the 69th minute.
Higuain nearly netted his second minutes later, curling a shot off the inside of the post, but neither side would be able to find the telling goal in the late stages.
