MLS Preview: Columbus Crew - Chicago Fire

MLS Preview: Columbus Crew - Chicago Fire

Brad Penner

Coming off back-to-back wins, the Fire will have a chance to extend their run with a third victory against a Crew side that has been struggling of late.

Three losses and three draws in their last six outings have the Columbus Crew struggling to keep pace in the Eastern Conference. The Crew started the season off with three wins in a row, but have not taken a victory since winning that third game back in March.

That record stands almost exactly opposite of the club coming to Columbus for a match Saturday, the Chicago Fire.

Over the first two months of the season the Fire went without a win, and the club started off May with a 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake. But the Fire followed that loss up with a win over New York and then took three points off Sporting Kansas City.

Just one point back of Columbus with a game in hand, the Fire on Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS Live) will have a great chance to climb at least one step up the table in the East, while a win for the Crew would help the team keep itself close in the fight for a top-half finish in the conference.
