Chicago Fire 3-1 New York Red Bulls: Fire win their first match of 2013

The Fire came back from a goal down to beat the Red Bulls 3-1 at home for Chicago's first win of the 2013 season.

Maicon Santos scored twice in the final 10 minutes to ease the Chicago Fire to a 3-1 win over the New York Red Bulls and help the host side earn three points for the first time this year.

"It was important for us obviously," Chicago coach Frank Klopas said. "The start was disappointing, but we know it's a long season. The things we have to focus on are what we can control: our attitude or work that we put in every day."

The Red Bulls opened the scoring on the road. A quarter hour into the match Juninho took a corner. Tim Cahill and Brandon Barklage kept the ball in play, and Jamison Olave looped it into the goal with an acrobatic backward kick.

A few minutes later, a Jeff Larentowicz shot hit the arm of Jonny Steele in the box. Chris Rolfe sent goalkeeper Luis Robles the wrong way with his penalty, but fired wide.

Chicago didn't let Robles off the hook for his next mistake. Robles lost a deep Hunter Jumper cross and Daniel Paladini nipped in front to head home the equalizer just before halftime.

Maicon Santos finished off the match with a pair of late goals. In the 83rd minute, Paladini fed him on a counterattack. The Brazilian faked a shot and cut back to send Olave sprawling and then finished with a soft shot with the outside of his left foot.

A simple Santos flick at the far post after Larentowicz headed down a free kick sealed the three points.
