Mike Magee scored in his fifth consecutive game in all competitions since joining Chicago to lead the team past visiting Colorado.Mike Magee has played five games in all competitions for the Chicago Fire. He has scored in every single one.
The Fire took a come-from-behind 2-1 win over the Colorado Rapids on Wednesday thanks in part to a first-half Magee penalty.
Colorado scored first, moving ahead after a quarter hour. Deshorn Brown stripped the ball from an inattentive Austin Berry and slotted it beside Sean Johnson.
A few minutes later, Marvel Wynne slid to dispossess Dilly Duka in the box and hit the ball with his arm. From the penalty spot, Magee executed a Panenka to beat Clint Irwin and score his ninth MLS goal of the season, leaving him one off the Golden Boot pace currently set by Philadelphia's Jack McInerney and Montreal's Marco Di Vaio.
Magee nearly added another when he flicked a corner on frame, but Brian Mullan headed out of danger from under the shadow of the bar.
Berry made amends for his earlier error by scoring the winner in the early minutes of the second half. A free kick squirted out to Jeff Larentowicz, who swung a cross toward the far post. Berry headed down and into the net to seal the game.
