Goals by David Edgar, Marcel de Jong and Tosaint Ricketts handed Benito Floro his first win as Canada boss in Toronto.

Canada came from a goal down to earn a confidence-building 3-1 friendly win over CONCACAF rivals Jamaica on Tuesday night.

Despite falling behind to a fine strike from Jamaica's Kemar Lawrence, Canada drew level through David Edgar before Marcel de Jong and Tosaint Ricketts earned Spaniard Benito Floro his first win as Canada boss at BMO Field in Toronto.

It was not until the half-hour mark that the match came to life, with the Reggae Boyz taking the lead with a fine free-kick strike from Lawrence. The Harbour View defender curled his set-piece over the Canadian wall and past an outstretched Milan Borjan to give the Caribbean nation the lead.

Canada's response was immediate. From a set-piece corner, Patrice Bernier — who was making his 50th international appearance for his country — picked out centre back David Edgar near the edge of the Jamaica box. The Birmingham City man struck a first-time volley through a crowd of players and into the back of the Jamaican goal for a 1-1 scoreline at the break.

It was Canada that went to claim victory in the second half, despite being well tested by Jamaica's substitute striker Jamar Loza, who forced Borjan into a couple of fine saves after the restart.

The match winner came on 68 minutes, and from nearly the same spot where The Reggae Boyz opened the scoring. De Jong curled a free kick over the Jamaican wall and past a frozen Andre Blake in the Jamaican goal for a 2-1 Canada lead.

That advantage was extended four minutes later in fortuitous fashion. Substitute Simeon Jackson's run and shot from the right flank was fumbled by Blake, leaving Ricketts to tap home into an empty net for a 3-1 Canada victory.
