Sporting Kansas City 2-1 D.C. United: No Open Cup hangover for SKC
Sporting Kansas City kept its place atop the Eastern Conference table with a 2-1 win over D.C. United.

Sporting Kansas City avoided any U.S. Open Cup hangover by beating D.C. United 2-1 on Saturday night. On Wednesday, SKC had won the Open Cup in penalties over Seattle Sounders FC.
The host side opened the scoring early. Teal Bunbury zigzagged through the defense, losing marker Chris Pontius, and jumped away from goal to redirect a Graham Zusi corner on net.
The equalizer came 10 minutes later. Andy Najar lifted a ball into the box. Nick DeLeon looked like he'd lost it but a lunge managed to scramble it in the goal.
The eventual winner came an hour into the match. A Kei Kamara cross filtered through to the back post where no United defender had bothered to pick up Zusi. The U.S. international five-holed Bill Hamid for the go-ahead tally.
