Montreal and Houston played out a thrilling match in Brian Ching's return to the club that owned his rights for a short time prior to the season, with the Impact taking a 4-2 win to earn some measure of revenge for the Ching saga.
Sanna Nyassi opened the scoring for the home side three minutes in as he raced in behind Houston's back line and let a fortunate bounce carry the ball into the net.
In the 16th minute Brad Davis curled home a wonderful free kick to level the score, but Davy Arnaud's towering header had the home side back in front five minutes later.
Will Bruin sent the match to the half level with his finish just before the break after getting on the end of a ball from Ching that slipped through Montreal's defense.
Hassoun Camara put Montreal back in front for good in the 60th when a corner was flicked to him at the back post where he manged to volley it home.
The game was put to rest when Patrice Bernier netted from the penalty spot to give Montreal two-goal lead and give the game its final scoreline.
