Chivas USA won at home for only the second time this season, beating the Montreal Impact 2-1.
It was the first-ever meeting between the clubs, with Impact head coach Jesse Marsch returning to face the club he had captained at the end of his 14-year MLS career.
The Goats opened the scoring. Juan Agudelo streamed unmarked through the box and one-times Oscar Romero's corner on target. The ball nicked off Alejandro Moreno's thigh before passing the line, so Venezuelan was credited with the goal and Agudelo with an assist.
Felipe Martins equalized minutes before the half. A deflected Davy Arnaud cross fell kindly to Felipe's feet, and the 21-year-old deftly deflected it inside the far post.
With a little over 10 minutes remaining, Robin Fraser threw Juan Pablo Angel and Jorge Villafana into the match. The move paid off in the 82nd minute when a Villafana cross found Angel in the box. The Colombian nodded the ball around Donovan Ricketts and inside the far post for the winner.
