Ricketts goes on a long run but can't hit a surging De Jong in front of the net.
Now there's a scuffle in front of the Canadian bench as Olivier Occean took too long to give the ball to a Panamanian looking to take a quick throw. Have to think Panama uis hurting themselves by delaying more of the game.
3 minutes of added time coming up. Nervous moments.
Canadian corner comes to nothing as Julian de Guzman skies the rebound.
Panama sends a ball harmless high, much to the delight of the crowd, all of whom are standing now.
Announced attendance of 17.586, but the crowd sounds at least twioce the size.

And just like that, Panama comes CLOSE. Torres unleashes a shot that just sails wide. Lots left in this match yet.
Bernier takes a curler, and it's JUST wide. The crowd was fooled into thinking it was in the net.
Ricketts torches a Panamanian and gets shoulder blocked en route to goal. Free kick from 25 yards coming up.
Hutchinson is doing yeoman's work here late in the game. He was the one who served that quick free kick to catch Panama napping, and now he's chasing down balls all over the pitch.

GOAL CANADA!!! Canada earns a free kick near the byline, and the quuick free kick is taken to a wide open DeRosario, who pots it home from inside the 6 yard box.
Bit of a nasty collision between McKenna and Jazic as both go to head the ball clear. Jazic take the brunt, but he's ok.

Panama set to make the game's first substitution.
Hirschfeld is forced to make a good save on a 50 yard chip attempt after a poor back pass fromn McKenna coerced the 'keeper into a soft clearance. Panama player tried to catch Hirschfeld off his line, but the GK scarmbled back into position in time.
JUST WIDE!!! Occean puts a low drive just wide right of the Panama goal after receiving a nice knock down from De Rosario.
De Rosario forces another save from Cedeno after Jackson skinned his defender and found the DC United man open. Still nothing to show for such positive oplay, though.
De Rosario falls hard after heading a ball over the Panama net. He's slow to get up, but will jog it off.
Blas Perez gets his first opportunity of the night, but he blasts well wide while under pressure from the Canadian defence.
Corner coming up for Panama. Ball bounces around dangerously, but it's Occean who gets the best boot on it.
De Rosario nutmegs a Panama defender inside the area, but he gets dispossessed before he can cross to an open man in front.
Panama gets the first chance of the half with a weak header that Hirschfeld has to parry wide.

TEams are heading back on to the field. We're in for an absolutely tense 45 minutes unless Canada can do something quickly.
We;re going to take a little bit of a break here, but we'll be back before the second half gets underway.
That's the half. Canada will need to find a killer pass if they want the three points out of this one. Panama is all too happy with the away draw.
Some interesting officiating going on here, as the fourth official puts up a sign for one minute of added time.
"injured" Panamanian now back upu and walking, much to the dismay of the home crowd.
We're into the time-wasting tactics now as a Panamanian requires a stretcher.
Canada still getting forward frequently, but they need to finish something at some point.
On theensuing free kick, De Rosario puts it under the wall and into the hands of the awaiting 'keeper.

And now another yellow for Panama after Barahona rugby tackles Hutchinson on a near break.
OFF THE POST!!! Mckenna heads one off the right post after rising above everyone to meet a Johnson cross. So close!
Dangerous free kick coming for Canada after Occean gets tackled near the sideline. Panama's engaging in some shenanigans in order to slow the game down.
Canada with two HUGE near misses in quick succession. First Occan pushes a loose ball just wide after a scramble, and on the ensuing corner he gets his head on it, forcing the Panama GK to punch clear.
The play is starting to even out here after almost total domination by Canada in the first 20 minutes.

It's dealt with well and then Canada gets a break which eventually leads to a yellow for a Panama player just past the half. Referee stamping his authority now.

Will Johnson gets the first yellow of the match after clashing into a Panamanian near the Canadian byline. Dangerous free kick coming up.
Panama's Cedeno is on the pitch in apparent agony after getting fouled by Edgar. He hops right back up and tries to sprint for a quick free kick after the ref blows the whistle.
Corner to Canada. Poor ball is cleared out easily.
Canada doing extremely well in possession, but true to form it's a lack of killer instinct in the final third that's working against them. Panama all to content to give up the ball and sit back.
Finally some positive forward play by Panama forces Hirschfeld to charge off his line and smother a through ball in the Canadian area.
De Guzman gets called for hauling a Panama player down 40 yards from goal. The visitors play the free kick backward, signalling their early intent to let the game come to them.
Egdar wastes the opportunity with a poor shot after De Rosario tapped it to him for the two-touch free kick.
Free kick coming to to Canada from just outside the 18 after Simeon Jackson gets hauled down.
De Ro scuffs a cross after a decent build up from Canada. Still all in one half of the field.
Free kick to Panama in their own half. Lots of physicality from the home side thus far.
Jackson lets Panama off the hook as his first touch blows a sure fire breakaway! Canada attacking with purpose in the early moments.
McKenna comes close as he nods the game's first corner kick just wide.
Lots of nerves here as the teams feel each other out to start the match. Crowd is already on the refere for a couple of calls against Canada.

Anthems are done. The Panamanians in attendances did very well with theirs, but wow was O Canada ever belted out!
We're less than ten minutes from kickoff here. Anticipation in the building is palpable.

HUGE roars and standing ovations as the women are presented individually to the adoring crowd.
Warm-ups are done and the bronze medal-winning Canadian women's team is about to step onto the pitch for recognition.

We're expecting a crowd of roughly 17-18,000 tonight, with overwhelming support for the home side.
Speaking of which, there are a few hundred boisterous Panama supporters in the north end of the stadium, and they've been making noise since the gates opened.
Despite calls for thundershowers all day long, the rain has held off and it's a perfect night heading towards kickoff. It's 24 degrees here at BMO Field, with a humidex of about 31. Today was hot and muggy, which should suit the Panamanians just fine.
