India U-16 team set for exposure trip to Turkey

The Indian U-16 national team is currently preparing for the 2018 AFC (Asian Football Confederation) U-16 Championship that will be held in Malaysia in September.

As part of their build-up towards the continental competition, the India Colts recently finished as runners-up to Japan in the 2018 WAFF (Western Asian Football Federation) U-16 Championship in Jordan where they defeated the hosts, Yemen as well as defending AFC U-16 Champions Iraq.

Bibiano Fernandes' boys will next travel to Turkey where they will play a tri-nation tournament between August 19 and 26. The Blue Cubs  are set to play against Turkey and Oman and also play a friendly match against Besiktas.

Goal also understands that after coming back from Turkey, Bibiano's boys have a plan to arrive in Malaysia a few days before the championship in order play friendly matches against the competing countries who will be there earlier.

The India U-16s have so far traveled to countries such as Egypt, Qatar, UAE (United Arab Emirates), Hong Kong, Spain, Serbia, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Jordan on exposure tours to prepare for the AFC U-16 Championship.

The Indian juniors have received ample support from the AIFF (All India Football Federation) and the SAI (Sports Authority of India) alike, wherein they played in competitions such as the India-Egypt Friendship Cup in Egypt, Jockey Cup in Hong Kong, MIC and Sportchain Cups in Spain besides four-nation tournaments in Serbia, China and the recent one in Jordan.
