Wolverhampton Wanderers sign Benik Afobe from Bournemouth

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced the signing of Benik Afobe from Bournemouth for a fee of £12.5million.

The attacker spent the second half of last season with the Wolves on loan, helping them to claim the English Championship title and securing promotion to the Premier League with six goals in 16 appearances.

The former Bolton Wanderers player first joined the Wolves in January 2015 but left 12 months later in then-club record fee of about £10 million to the Cherries.

On Friday, the Molineux Stadium outfit confirmed the capture of the 25-year-old along defender Willy Boly.

“Wolves have triggered options in the loan agreements of Willy Boly and Benik Afobe, which will see both make permanent moves to Molineux this summer,” read a statement on club website.

Before his departure from the Vitality Stadium outfit, Afobe made 71 appearances across all competitions and registered 11 goals.

The forward will be expected to join the rest of the squad ahead of their pre-season training which starts on June 27.
