Argentina and their Barcelona-based talisman have arrived in Australia ahead of their friendly against Brazil on Friday

Lionel Messi and his Argentina team-mates were put through their paces by new coach Jorge Sampaoli in Melbourne on Monday as they settled in to their new surroundings.

Having arrived in Australia earlier the same day, Messi and the rest of Sampaoli's squad trained at Melbourne City's base in the northern suburbs in the afternoon.

Brazil to meet Argentina in Australia

The Barcelona forward looked sharp in a short session overseen by Sampaoli, who will take charge of La Albiceleste for the first time on Friday night when Argentina take on Brazil.

The high-profile friendly will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in front of an expected crowd of over 95,000.
