Oxford doesn't want West Ham return despite playing no part at Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach defender Reece Oxford does not want to cut his loan from West Ham short, despite not featuring so far this season.

The 18-year-old joined the Bundesliga side for the 2017-18 campaign in hopes of securing more playing time, but his move has been anything but beneficial thus far.

Oxford has the option to cut his loan short and return to West Ham in December, but the England youth international says he prefers to stay in Germany and force his way into the Gladbach picture.

"It's true that I have the option to go back to West Ham prematurely, but I'm not looking for it, but I just want to play here at Borussia," Oxford told Bild

"I'm only focused on training and the possibility to play."

Although he hasn't seen the pitch yet, the centre-back was boosted by his inclusion last month in the finalists for the 2017 Golden Boy award

"I've played a lot of good international games last year, and it's a great honor to be named in a breath with players like [Kylian] Mbappe or [Marcus] Rashford.

"I will work hard to get my chance here, and then I will use it."

Oxford made his Premier League debut on opening day of the 2015-16 campaign as a 16-year-old, but has since failed to lock down a regular spot with the Hammers.
