I-League: Mohun Bagan rope in Chesterpaul Lyngdoh

Mohun Bagan have convinced one of the breakthrough stars of the 2016-17 I-League season in Chesterpaul Lyngdoh to be part of their roster for the upcoming campaign. He will join the Mariners on loan from FC Pune City.

The 19-year-old played a total of 1121 minutes for Churchill Brothers in the I-League and scored three goals. Interestingly, two of three goals were winners against Bengaluru FC and Mohun Bagan.

Known for his pace down the flanks and neat skills, Lyngdoh started his career in Meghalaya and also participated in the Subroto Cup with O.M.Memorial School. Thereafter, he attended a two-day residential football camp organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) under Savio Madeira back in 2012. He was picked up to play for Nangkiew Irat in the Shillong Premier League (SPL) where he continued to impress before being scouted by Pune FC academy.

Once the Pune FC academy was sold to FC Pune City, the Hrithik Roshan co-owned franchise opted to loan him to Churchill Brothers in order to ensure that the winger gets game-time in the top tier league.

Lyngdoh has been called by India coach Stephen Constantine in the Under--23 probables who are undergoing a camp in Delhi to prepare for the AFC Under-23 Qualifiers in Qatar later this month.
