Paul Scholes has talked up the claims of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola to a future role in international management, claiming that “everyone in England loves the way his teams play”.
The Manchester United legend believes the Catalan would be an ideal candidate to inherit the Three Lions' reins at some stage.
He has proven himself at some of Europe’s top clubs, with considerable success enjoyed at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
Guardiola is yet to sprinkle his magic dust over the Etihad Stadium, but City remain in the hunt for major silverware this season.

He remains fully committed to a long-term project in Manchester, but Scholes believes the FA should be ready to give him a call once a decision is made to take on a new challenge.
He told Marca: "I hope he becomes England coach one day and bring us his style.
"He can still succeed in England, he could improve in defence because at every ground you come under pressure but everyone in England loves the way his teams play.”

For now, Guardiola is focused on domestic matters, which include keeping City ahead of arch-rivals United.
Scholes has been impressed by the progress made by his former club this season, with Jose Mourinho having helped to make the Red Devils competitive again.
He added: “He is getting the team to play how the fans and the club want.

“Before the style of play from other coaches was difficult to understand, their league position does not match the good football the team are playing.
"The first few months were not great but he wants to win everything.

United are currently sat sixth in the Premier League table, four points behind City in second spot.
