Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka is hoping his stay at St James’ Park will be made permanent.
Dubravka joined on loan from Sparta Prague in January and he has since kept four clean sheets in 11 appearances for the Magpies, including an impressive performance against Manchester United on his debut.
Rafa Benitez is keen to exercise the club’s option to buy the Slovakian for £4 million and Dubravka also wants the deal to happen.
“I would like to, of course,” he said in the Evening Chronicle when asked if he wants to stay.
“It’s a huge club with a great history, amazing fans and quality players. We will see what’s going to happen.

“I’m happy that we stayed in the league. Next season, for us, hopefully we can bring the same attitude and level that we played. I really hope that next season we will show that we are stronger.”
The 29-year-old has relished the opportunity to play in the Premier League and feels competing against some of the leading footballers in the world has brought the best out of him.
The keeper had been limited to playing at a lesser standard in Denmark, Slovakia and the Czech Republic before moving to England.
He added: “Standing with the best players in the world - I’m so proud of it. I’m so happy that I could play these games.”
