The Premier League club are eager to start their pre-season on the right foot in Perth

After a disappointing showing last season, Chelsea are desperate to make amends and will look to start their turn around in pre-season with a clash against A-League side Perth Glory awaiting them.

The Blues will touch down in Western Australia in less than two weeks time ahead of their match against Glory at Optus Stadium on July 23.

While there remains doubt over who will be Chelsea's manager in Perth, with Antonio Conte's future still uncertain, defender Marcos Alonso will be making the trip.

Excited for his first trip Down Under, Alonso stressed the importance of making the most of every pre-season fixture.

"It’s always exciting to play in new places and I hope we get to see what the city has to offer," Alonso told Chelsea's official website.

"We have to take these games seriously. We have got two weeks to get ourselves into shape and prepare for it.

"The season starts now."

Chelsea's clash with Glory will be the first football match to be played at the recently completed 60,000-seat Optus Stadium.

Eager to put England's warmer weather behind him, Alonso is looking forward to taking to the pitch and entertaining fans that rarely get to see the Blues up close.

"I have heard the stadium is really cool and maybe it won’t be as hot there as it has been in England!" he said.

"We hope to put on a good show for the fans. It’s a great opportunity for us to see our fans from the other side of the world.

"We feel their support throughout the year but we know they can’t always see us play."

Awaiting Chelsea and Alonso will be a rejuvenated Perth outfit that have recruited strongly under new coach Tony Popovic.

After finishing eighth in a ten-team A-League last season, Glory have added former Socceroos defenders Matthew Spiranovic and Ivan Franjic as they look for some stability at the back.
