Betting round-up: Reds tipped to reign against Wanderers

Despite having performed admirably in their A-League debut, the Western Sydney Wanderers are tipped to struggle when they travel to Hindmarsh to face Adelaide Indonesia   By PAUL GOUGH

They may have performed heroically to pick up a point in their A-League debut by drawing against last year's premiers Central Coast in Week 1, but Western Sydney Wanderers are being tipped to return home empty-handed from their first ever away game against Adelaide on Friday.

The Wanderers performed well above expectations to earn a 0-0 draw last Saturday, though they face a much tougher task this week on the road against AFC Champions League quarter-finalists Adelaide.

And while the Reds may have suffered heartbreak in losing to Bunyodkor in extra-time in the second leg of that ACL quarter-final tie in Tashkent, they bounced back superbly to beat Newcastle 2-0 away on Sunday, despite a 33-hour journey home for the match.

With a full week's rest and a home match to look forward to, the Reds have been installed as the $1.73 favourites at Betfair to win on Friday, with the draw at $3.80 and the Wanderers at $6.

However, the Reds are still good value at that price given they are shorter elsewhere at $1.67 at - where the draw is priced at $3.60 and the Wanderers at $5.50.

And Adelaide are priced at $8.60 at Betfair to again win 2-0 in correct-score betting markets, with a 1-0 Reds victory the favoured option at $6.60.

You can get a massive $14 on the Wanderers pulling off an upset 1-0 win.
