thumbnail Hello,

Everton are tipped to continue their bright start to the season, particularly in light of some key defensive absences for Newcastle Indonesia   By PAUL GOUGH

The loss of first-choice goalkeeper Tim Krul has resulted in Newcastle being shunned by punters ahead of Monday's big English Premier League fixture against Everton at Goodison Park.

Krul, one of the most reliable keepers in the EPL, suffered an elbow injury while on international duty with the Netherlands and could miss up to three games.

And with Newcastle's experienced central defender Fabricio Coloccini also in doubt for the match with a hamstring strain, the punters are expecting the Magpies to be somewhat shaky in defence away from home on Monday.

As a result, the Toffees are the clear $1.75 favourites to win at home at Luxbet, with the draw at $3.50 and Newcastle at $4.60.

And Everton have already shown this season just how tough they are to beat at home, having defeated last season's runners-up Manchester United 1-0 at Goodison on the opening day of the season in their only previous home game so far this campaign.

And the Toffees to again win 1-0 at home is the favoured option in correct-score betting at Luxbet at $6.50, along with a 1-1 draw also at $6.50.

Everton, which finished a creditable seventh last season, have started the 2012-13 campaign well under long-time manager David Moyes and already have two wins from three matches, with the one defeat coming last time out away to West Brom.

Newcastle, who finished fifth last season, are two points behind Everton having won one, drawn one and lost one from their opening three games.

But while Newcastle were beaten 3-1 on their most recent trip to Everton last season, they did score a 1-0 win at Everton during the previous campaign in 2010-11 and - despite their problems at the back - still carry plenty of scoring power through exciting front men Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba, with the Geordies priced at $10.50 at Luxbet to repeat their 1-0 win of two seasons ago.
