TEAM NEWS: Bayern rest eight players from Real Madrid win including Lahm, Robben, Ribery and Gomez for Werder Bremen clash

With one eye on the second leg of their Champions League semi-final with Los Blancos on Wednesday, the Bavarians make wholesale changes in order to keep legs fresh
With three points possibly not enough to keep up their Bundesliga title chase, Jupp Heynckes has decided to rest the majority of his Bayern Munich players for their match at Werder Bremen.

Nils Petersen will make his first appearance for the Bavarians since early March in place of Mario Gomez while Anatoliy Tymoshchuk and Diego Contento start ahead of the suspended Holger Badstuber and David Alaba.

Wingers Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are among the substitutes and Takashi Usami and Ivica Olic will deputise in their place. Jerome Boateng, Toni Kroos and David Alaba are all among the substitutes while captain Philipp Lahm is left out of the matchday squad.

Luiz Gustavo, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Manuel Neuer are the only survivors from last Tuesday's win over Real Madrid. Thomas Muller is also in the starting line-up having only played in the final 30 minutes in the 2-1 victory.

Thomas Schaaf's side have not won a league game in their previous six outings and will be without Marko Marin, Philipp Bargfrede and Mehmet Ekici through injury so young midfielders Tom Trybull and Florian Trinks come into the middle.
