Andre Villas-Boas has named the England winger as skipper for the game in Slovenia and makes three changes from his team that lost 4-2 to Chelsea at the weekend
The Portuguese has made three changes from the side that lost to Chelsea at the weekend, as William Gallas, Clint Dempsey and Friedel all make way for Kyle Naughton, Andros Townsend and Lloris.
Jan Vertonghen, who has featured at left-back for most of the season, will likely partner Steven Caulker at centre-back with Naughton taking the Dutchman's place out wide. Townsend is likely to play on the left-wing, leaving Glyfi Sigurdsson to play behind Jermain Defoe in attack.
Spurs are still without Gareth Bale, who missed the game against Chelsea to attend the birth of his child, while Emmanuel Adebayor did not make the trip due to a back injury.
