MRI scans have revealed the Denmark midfielder did not rupture his ankle ligaments during his country's clash with Norway on Friday, instead only suffering a sprain
The 21-year-old was forced off after just 40 minutes of his country’s friendly against Norway on Friday, with initial scans suggesting he could face a lengthy period on the sidelines.
However, the club have revealed the Dane only sprained his ankle ligaments and did not suffer any tearing.
"After an MRI scan it's been determined that @ChrisEriksen8 suffered a sprain of the lateral ankle ligaments playing for Denmark on Friday," Tottenham announced via their official Twitter feed.
"Christian's scan showed no sign of ruptured ligaments which will result in a shorter period of recovery for the attacking midfielder."
Denmark coach Martin Olsen had earlier admitted he was not sure as to the extent of the injury, suggesting that Eriksen could be out for four to six weeks.
"We don’t know if he’s out for four or six weeks or how long it will take," he told reporters immediately after the match.
Eriksen has made 12 appearances for Spurs so far this season.
