After Real Madrid's Champions League semi-final exit on Tuesday night, the former Blues boss hinted at leaving the Bernabeu and added he wants to go "where people love me"
The Portugese gave his strongest hint yet at a return to Stamford Bridge after his side crashed out of the Champions League at the hands of Borussia Dortmund, responding to questions about whether he will be at the Bernabeu next season with "maybe not".
Goal.com revealed that Chelsea have agreed deals to sign Mourinho and Atletico Madrid striker Falcao, and Ivanovic believes all the players are desperate to see the Real Madrid boss back at the helm in west London.
"Everyone at Chelsea cannot wait for the return of Mourinho," he told Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti.
"The players have had no confirmation that he is returning to Stamford Bridge, but we all want that to happen because it is one of the best coaches in the world."
Interim manager Rafa Benitez has guided the Blues back into the top four and on the brink of reaching a first ever Europa League final, but Ivanovic believes a second Mourinho spell would see Chelsea become title contenders once again.
"He is immensely respected by everyone and he has done well at the club in the past," he added.
"With him we can be stronger as a club; it would be another dimension of Chelsea and is sure to become one of the main competitors for the title."
