TEAM NEWS: Torres benched as Ba starts for Chelsea's fixture against Stoke

The Spaniard will start Saturday's game on the bench after a poor display in midweek in the Capital One Cup defeat to Swansea at Stamford Bridge with John Terry also a substitute
Rafael Benitez has left Fernando Torres out of Chelsea's starting XI for the trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City.

The Blues bring Frank Lampard, Demba Ba and goalkeeper Petr Cech back into the starting lineup while captain John Terry also makes his return from injury and begins on the bench.

Stoke, meanwhile, make just one change from the team that last 3-0 to Manchester City last time out in the Premier League with Matthew Etherington coming into the side and Cameron Jerome relegated to the bench.

Stoke City: Begovic; Cameron, Shawcross, Huth, Wilkinson; Walters, Whelan, Nzonzi, Etherington; Adam; Jones.

Subs: Sorensen, Whitehead, Upson, Kightly, Crouch, Shotton, Jerome.

Chelsea: Cech; Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cole; Hazard, Lampard, Ramires, Bertrand; Mata, Ba.
