'I've no regrets about leaving Tottenham' - Bassong enjoying life with Norwich

The centre-back is thriving in a more prominent role under Chris Hughton and believes the increased playing time is benefiting his displays after scoring twice in 13 outings

Norwich City centre-back Sebastien Bassong has insisted he has 'no regrets' about leaving Tottenham, adding that the increased playing time has benefited his progression.

The 26-year-old - who spent the second half of last season on loan at Wolves - joined the Canaries for a reported fee of £3 million in the summer after finding his first team opportunities restricted at White Hart Lane.

Bassong has already notched two goals for his new side, most recently a last-gasp equaliser against Everton, and the defender has cited his regular starting spot as reason behind his improved performances.

"It makes a big difference for a player, especially somebody like me and my body," he said speaking on talkSPORT.

"I need to play week in, week out to get the best out of me.

"I've no regrets about leaving Tottenham. I am enjoying my time here and the results are good for us. The people around me at the club, the fans as well are lovely, so I am really happy to be here. I hope I can keep on scoring and helping to win games for Norwich."

Bassong looked to be struggling with a knee injury late into the 2-1 win over Sunderland, but the defender has allayed fans' fears over the possibility of a period on the sidelines.

"I'm okay. I just damaged my knee a bit when I went shoulder to shoulder with [Connor] Wickham," he added.

"He is a big lad so I had to go quite strong and when I landed my knee twisted a little bit but I knew I was going to be okay to finish the game. I've had a bit of treatment. We knew it would be tough in the second half."
