Wilshere pleads for patience from Arsenal supporters as he steps up comeback
Having starred in three games for the Gunners since returning from a 17-month injury lay-off, the midfielder wants fans to bear with him as battles to regain full fitness
Jack Wilshere has appealed to Arsenal supporters to take a vow of patience as he prepares to step up his comeback from a long-term ankle injury.
After 17 months on the sidelines, the 20-year-old made his return for the Gunners in the victory over QPR at the end of October and has gone on to make two more appearances, as well as playing for England against Sweden on Wednesday.
Wilshere was absent for last week's draw against Fulham at the Emirates after picking up a red card against Manchester United, but is expected to return for Arsene Wenger's side in the north London derby on Saturday.
"I don't how long it will be before I can say 'I'm back'. I'm not really sure," Wilshere told Sky Sports.
"This is my first long-term injury. We will see. I'm sure you lot [the media] will notice when I'm back to my best.
"I'm getting there. I don't feel 100 per cent yet and everyone can see that. I feel better and better as every game goes on.
"I need to get some games under my belt and properly get back into the swing of things.
"But it's great to be back. Seventeen months on the sidelines is tough for anyone."
