STATE PICKS

Western Australia’s state league had a break this past weekend, but Sorrento made their second consecutive cup final after their 6-0 demolition of ten-man Floreat on Saturday.

Up north, Sunshine Coast had a chance to close the gap on Brisbane Strikers and succeeded convincingly with their 4-1 win over Capricorn Cougars, while in the Queensland capital's league, Wolves FC and Peninsula continue their tussle at the pointy end of the table.

Adelaide City handed second place to the victorious Blue Eagles, courtesy of a 2-1 home loss to league-leading Croydon.

It was business as usual for the top two in the capital as they both notched up wins, while title-holders Canberra FC were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Woden Valley.

In Northern NSW, Newcastle Olympic and the Newcastle Jets youth side are even on points atop the state league after 2-1 wins over Lake Macquarie and Weston Workers respectively, but Olympic still holds a game in hand.

Meanwhile in Tasmania, South Hobart and New Town marched towards the Southern finals series with resounding victories, as Prospect's chances of defending their Northern Premier League title were dealt a heavy blow with their home loss to Launceston United.

@meacod: Either the guy behind me is a #stateleague amateurs fan, or he really hates Scott Jamieson. Could be both, I guess.
