PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEKEND

Robert Younis

It was difficult to pick between the two hat-trick scorers on the weekend, but former Adelaide United forward Robert Younis edged Nathan Elasi to take out the performance of the weekend. The striker was appearing in his first game for Bonnyrigg White Eagles after joining from APIA Leichhardt at the end of last season, and scored three goals to help his new side to a 3-2 win over South Coast Wolves. Younis brings plenty of skill and experience to the side and will be a very valuable player throughout the 2012 campaign.

AFTERTHOUGHTS

"A dream start for the big three. Marconi were handed a clash against Blacktown in the opening round and made no mistake. Sydney Olympic and Sydney United, last year's grand finalists, both recorded narrow wins, showing they will again be a threat this campaign."
- Dejan

"An exciting opening round of NSWPL action with a total of 17 goals over six games. Sydney United and Sydney Olympic showed why they will be up there again this season with strong 1-0 victories."
- David
