Philippines head coach Michael Weiss handed one-match suspension

Philippines head coach Weiss will be watching the next match from the stands after throwing a ball at Thailand's Anucha Kitpongsri, who was down injured on the pitch
Philippines head coach Michael Weiss has been hit with a one-game touchline ban for his conduct in Sunday's Suzuki Cup match between Thailand and Philippines.
Weiss was handed the punishment following his sending-off for throwing the ball at Anucha Kitpongsri who was injured on the pitch.
Weiss, who earlier stated he felt his sending off was unfair, intends to contest the ruling, although he is pessimistic about doing so.
"Normally, it's very difficult to reverse the decision of the referee," Weiss told InterAKTV. "I think it's not realistic."
However, the Philippines coach believes his side will be able to cope despite his absence in the next match against Vietnam.
"It's not ideal but we're used to taking difficult situations in a positive way," Weiss continued.
"It's okay. The coaching staff, they know how we want to play. We will stay in contact.
"It's actually sometimes good to observe from the fans' perspective to see some things.'
Despite Weiss' impending absence, star striker Philip Younghusband - substituted early in the game against Thailand due to a gash over his left eye - agreed that the team is more than capable of coping with Vietnam.
"With the players we have on the field, we can do a lot of coaching," Younghusband said.
"But of course, I like our coach to be there to motivate us."
Philippines now will face Vietnam, who drew 1-1 with Myanmar in their opening game.
Thailand currently top the group with three points, followed by Vietnam and Myanmar who have a point a piece, while Philippines are without any points.
