Socceroos skipper Mile Jedinak played as his Crystal Palace lost 3-2 to Brentford, with Premier League and Championship teams finalising their preparations for the 2014-15 season.



Chris Herd came on with 17 minutes remaining in Aston Villa's 4-1 friendly loss to FC Groningen.



Alex Cisak started for newly promoted Premier League side Burnley as they defeated Blackpool 1-0 away from home.

Adam Taggart was not involved but Ryan Williams played for Championship club Fulham in their 1-0 friendly win over Caykur Rizespor.

Ryan Edwards started for Reading and Adam Federici came on in a 3-1 loss to top flight Swansea City.


Bailey Wright started for League One side Preston North End as they drew 1-1 with Leicester City, who are preparing for life back in the Premier League after winning the Championship last season.

Jackson Irvine featured as Celtic went down 6-1 to Tottenham Hotspur.

James Holland played and picked up a booking as his Austria Wien kicked off the new league season with a 0-0 draw at home to Rheindorf Altach.

Luke DeVere played the full game as his Gyeongnam drew 1-1 with FC Seoul in the K-League.

Aleksandar Jovanovic started but was withdrawn in the 57th minute of Jeju United's 1-1 draw away to Busan IPark.

Alex Wilkinson saw out a full 90 minutes, helping Jeonbuk Motors keep a clean sheet and earn all three points in a 2-0 win at home to Jeonnam.

In the Chinese Super League, Daniel McBreen started and was taken off on 68 minutes as Shanghai SIPG saw off Hangzhou Greentown 2-1.
Jonas Salley and Guizhou Renhe got the better of Josh Mitchell's Liaoning Whowin, recording a 1-0 home victory, while Ryan McGowan played the full game as Shandong Luneng drew 2-2 at home to Tianjin Teda.

North America

Tim Cahill was sacrificed at half-time after New York Red Bulls went down to 10 men in the MLS, with the hosts coming from behind to beat New England 2-1 at Red Bull Arena.
