Ex-Melbourne Heart defender Simon Colosimo is tipped to join I-League outfit Dempo SC if countryman Arthur Papas is, as expected, confirmed as coach in the coming days

Former Melbourne Heart captain Simon Colosimo appears set for a move to Indian club Dempo SC.

Goal understands the veteran defender is in advanced talks with the I-League club, although the move is likely to be dependent on the appointment of compatriot Arthur Papas to the Whites' coaching post.

I-League champions three times in the past six seasons, Dempo seem set to dispense with long-serving coach Armando Colaco amid allegations of money laundering.

Barring any hitch, Papas should pen a deal with the club in the coming days, having left league rivals Pailan Arrows - also the All Indian Football Federation's development side - at the end of the 2012-13 season.

That will pave the way for Colosimo to join the Goa-based club, according to sources close to the deal.

Papas and Colosimo were together at Melbourne Heart in 2011, with the former spending a short time as assistant coach of the A-League club's National Youth League side.

Ex-Australia international Colosimo, 34, was one of several experienced players released at the end of the 2012-13 A-League season, in which Heart missed the finals.

Capable of playing in midfield as well as central defence, his career has included stops with English club Manchester City, Sivasspor of Turkey and Malaysia outfit Pahang.  His long list of former Australian clubs contains South Melbourne, Perth Glory and Sydney FC - the latter two with which he won domestic titles.
