Former Sydney FC attacker Dimitri Petratos is set to return to Malaysian Super League club Kelantan after completing his training stint at Blackburn Rovers.

The 20-year-old joined Kelantan in December after his release from Sydney FC, but was not registered for the club's MSL campaign after coach Bojan Hodak opted to nominate Nigerian defender Obinna Nwaneri and Guinean striker Keita Mandjou as his permitted foreigners.

Instead, Petratos linked up with Championship club Blackburn in January for a training stint.

The Australia youth international will be available for Kelantan for their AFC Cup campaign, however, which begins on March 6.

The MSL champions share Group G with Myanmar club Ayeyawady United, Vietnam's SHB Da Nang and Maziya Sports of the Maldives, the latter of who Kelantan face in their opener.
