Australian duo Neill, Schwarzer nominated for AFC awards

Australia internationals Lucas Neill and Mark Schwarzer are in line for Asian Football Confederation honours.
The veterans have each been nominated for different awards, with Socceroos captain Lucas Neill in the running for the AFC's Asian Player of the Year, which is won by the top-performed player within the confederation.
Fulham goalkeeper Schwarzer, meanwhile, is one of three players nominated for the inaugural AFC International Player of the Year award, aimed at rewarding players who ply their trade outside the confederation.
He will battle Shinji Kagawa of Manchester United, who moved to Old Trafford from German champions Borussia Dortmund last summer in a £17 million deal.
The third nomination has been handed to Kagawa's Japan international team-mate Yuto Nagatomo, who has been in good form for Serie A side Inter.
Fulham keeper Schwarzer has continued to shine for the Cottagers despite recently turning 40.
Neill is one of two Asia-based former English Premier League players to be listed. The former Everton, West Ham and Blackburn defender Lucas Neill, who plays for Al Wasl in the UAE, and Zheng Zhi, who had a spell with Charlton Athletic, are both in with a chance of winning the award.
They are joined by South Korea winger Lee Keun-Ho and Iranian pair Ali Karimi and Mohsen Bengar.
