Veteran Roar defender has ended speculation surrounding his future by signing a new deal with the club
Shane Stefanutto has re-signed with the Brisbane Roar for another year, ending speculation the veteran defender was set to retire.
Stefanutto, who turns 34 on Sunday, has struggled with injury so far this campaign but will play on with the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.
The experienced left-back hasn't featured for the Roar since picking up a hamstring injury in round three, missing the club's last 10 matches on their way to the top of the A-League ladder.
But Stefanutto is set to return to the squad for Saturday's clash with Adelaide, fresh from signing his new deal.
"It was an easy decision to make," Stefanutto said.
"I'm still very motivated to work hard. I love this club and it's exciting to be a part of the culture we're continuing to build here.
"I know I have a lot more to give in the Brisbane Roar jersey and I can't wait to get back onto the field tomorrow night at Suncorp Stadium."
Brisbane Roar Football Director Ken Stead added: "Shane is the ultimate professional, his fitness within our high-pressing game is top class and he has an incredible work rate to match.
"To have him commit to one more year with the Roar only strengthens our squad and we look forward to seeing him run up and down the sideline delivering those quality crosses for another season."
Stefanutto's re-signing comes just a day after in-form attacker Dimitri Petratos also pledged his future to the Roar.
