Yairo Yau back at Sydney

Frank Farina has bolstered his attacking options ahead of the new A-League season, bringing pacey Yairo Yau back for another loan spell in the Harbour City

Sydney FC have renewed the loan deal of forward Yairo Yau, securing his services until the end of the 2013-14 A-League season.

Yau, 23, impressed after joining Sydney from Sporting San Miguelito last year, netting six goals in 10 appearances.

He is set to join Sydney's pre-season preparations on Thursday, and will provide competition for fellow forwards Alessandro Del Piero, Joel Griffiths, Corey Gameiro and Joel Chianese.

"If you ask any football manager in the world what their priority is, it would be a striker who can score goals, has pace and is comfortable on the ball and he ticks all of those boxes," Sydney coach Frank Farina said.

"Coming to a new country, a new football culture is always difficult and with the attributes he has, he's very quick and can score goals, we thought he was well worth another look for another season where he won't have any transitional period and hopefully he can improve on that goal tally.

"I'm expecting more from him, I'm expecting him to be better because he won't need to settle in, he knows the players, the club and the league now so hopefully that will be a benefit and he'll do even better than he did last year."

Yau meanwhile expressed his delight at returning to the A-League: "I am happy to be continuing my career with Sydney FC.

"I like Sydney, the fans and my team-mates. I am excited to be back in the Sydney FC team."
