thumbnail Hello,

Along with the Brisbane Roar, the Mariners have been the cream of the A-League crop for the last two seasons. Can they sustain it this campaign? Indonesia   By KIERAN JONES

STAR MAN: Mat Ryan ONE TO WATCH:  Bernie Ibini

Was the A-League's Goalkeeper of the Season in 2011-12, and is probably the most important man in the Mariners side. Trialed overseas and, at 20, he has a massive future ahead of him.

It is hard to believe Ibini is only 19. The striker looks ready for a breakout season and if anyone can get the most out of him it is Arnold, who has resisted the urge to overuse the youngster.

Arnold may find it hard to repeat the success of last year's home-and-away campaign because of the large turnover of players from his squad. They have brought in Mile Sterjovski and Mat Ryan is certainly a star between the sticks, but the Mariners should be wary of sliding down the table should they fail to click early in the campaign.
