Melbourne Heart has announced the signing of highly rated teenage winger Ben Garuccio on a three-year deal.

The 17-year-old joins the A-League club after two years with the Australian Institute of Sport, and is the eighth new signing for John Aloisi's squad ahead of the 2012-13 campaign.

South Australian Garuccio is an Australia youth international, and has been on Heart's radar for some time.

The left winger has spent time on trial at the club but has now been handed a professional contract to become the 20th player in Heart's squad.

"I first spoke to Ben about 12 months ago and we think he is the best 17-year-old going around," Aloisi said via club statement.

"He's a quick winger who is very good one-on-one.

"The fact that he is a left-footer is a great strength and he's been doing really well with the under-20 national team in the tournaments that he has featured in recently.

"This signing shows that the club is continuing to invest in youth as a priority and we focused on having Australia’s most talented players develop at Melbourne Heart FC.

"Even at 17, Ben is going to be a valuable member to our squad and feel he has a big future."
