The Magpies have completed a deal for the 19-year-old defender after he impressed during a trial, with the Australian becoming Alan Pardew’s third off-season purchase

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Curtis Good from Melbourne Heart, with the youngster penning a six-year contract.

The 19-year-old defender impressed during a trial with the Magpies and Alan Pardew has moved swiftly to conclude a deal.

The Magpies thanked the A-League club for their "professionalism and co-operation" in completing the transfer and confirmed the Australian will meet up with his team-mates when they return from their pre-season tour of Portugal later this week.

The fee is thought to be in the region of AU$600,000, and Good is expected to provide defensive cover for Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson.

He becomes Pardew's third off-season signing following the arrivals of Romain Amalfitano and Gael Bigirimana.

The Magpies head in to the new season on the back of a successful previous campaign, which saw them secure Europa League football, and continue to be linked with a host of names including Mathieu Debuchy and Andy Carroll.
