The Brisbane Roar fullback can't believe how far he has come as he prepares to take on the world's best next month

Ivan Franjic says he's still coming to terms with his rise from part-time footballer in Melbourne to selection in the Socceroos' 30-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

The Brisbane Roar player heads into camp with the national team on Thursday in Gosford on a high after his selection.

It's all a long way from part-time football and getting up at 5am to pay the bills, in his case by working as a carpenter, in Melbourne six years ago.
