The Aston Villa midfielder has been forced to withdraw from his third Socceroos camp through injury, once again delaying what could have been his international debut
Aston Villa midfielder Chris Herd will miss Australia's friendly international with Scotland after sustaining a quadriceps strain.
The 23-year-old has yet to make his senior international debut for the Socceroos and also withdrew from two previous squads due to injury.
Herd will not travel with the team to Edinburgh as the Socceroos prepare to face Scotland for the first time since 2000, when Frank Farina's side triumphed 2-0 at Hampden Park.
Socceroos coach Holger Osieck has not named a replacement for Wednesday's clash at Easter Road.
The match continues Australia's preparations for the continuation of their 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign, with a match in Jordan on September 11 and Iraq on October 15 in Osieck's sights.
