thumbnail Hello,

The left-sided Australian has found a new home in uncharted territory, joining the Uzbek champions after a disappointing spell in Spain

Uzbek champions Bunyodkor have  confirmed they have signed Socceroo David Carney on a one-year deal following a trial with the club.

The 28-year-old Australian left winger joins Bunyodkor along with Kazakh defender Emil Kenzhesariev and Slovakia international Jan Kozak.

Carney arrives at Bunyodkor after a disappointing spell with Spanish second-tier club AD Alcorcon, where he struggled to break into the first team.

The Australia international, who has had previous stints at Blackpool, FC Twente, Norwich City, Sheffield United, Sydney FC and Everton, was part of Bunyodkor training this week in Antalya.

Carney has flown with the squad to Dubai for another camp, although he will be unveiled at an official presentation ahead of the 2012 AFC Champions League (ACL).

The Uzbek top flight is currently in pre-season, while Bunyodkor will begin their ACL campaign on March 6. They are in Group E alongside Gamba Osaka, Adelaide United and either Pohang Steelers or Chonburi.
