The Swede was left devastated by his country's failure to secure a berth in Brazil but his club coach says that winning titles with Les Parisiens would 'soften the blow'

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc has called upon Zlatan Ibrahimovic to bounce back from his World Cup disappointment by helping his side beat Reims this weekend.

The striker scored twice in the second leg of Sweden's play-off against Portugal on Tuesday but it was not enough to prevent the Seleccao from prevailing 4-2 on aggregate.

Blanc has now admitted that his star striker was left disappointed by the Blagult's failure to make it to Brazil but believes that the 32-year-old will respond in the best possible manner by inspiring PSG to more titles.

"It was a massive disappointment for him, but I think he's fine. He must be bitterly disappointed, but he always has the right spirit," he said at a press conference.

"He has to turn it into something positive, by reaching his goals with his club side, very ambitious goals at that. If he can do that, it will soften the blow of missing out on the World Cup in Brazil."

Blanc went on to urge his side not to underestimate the threat represented by Saturday's opponents Reims, the last team to beat PSG.

"They are highly motivated when they take on the big sides and we are expecting a very tough match," the World Cup winner insisted.

"The international break means we haven't prepared in the best possible conditions."

Edinson Cavani was one of the players involved in the international break, helping Uruguay to a 5-0 aggregate play-off win over Jordan, and Blanc is unsure whether he will play the former Napoli man following his long-haul journey.

"To start him against Reims might be a bit risky," he reasoned. "I will discuss it with him to see how he feels.

"The match against Reims is very important, but there are other matches coming up which are just as important.

"We won't take any risks for this game."
