Such a goal-laden weekend of football in Italy was always likely to lead to a Serie A Team of the Week boasting plenty of strikes, and that is certainly the case. Andrea Consigli, in fact, was one of only three goalkeepers to remain unbeaten over the weekend, helping Atalanta to a 2-0 victory over Torino.
Across the defensive line there are some real powerhouses, with Hugo Campagnaro having helped Inter to a second consecutive clean sheet at Catania and Guglielmo Stendardo's performance at the back for Atalanta being topped off with a goal. They are joined by Danilo, who was a rock in Udinese's win over Parma.
The midfield is packed with superstar performers. Marek Hamsik scored twice in the opening game of the weekend as Napoli overcame Chievo, then Arturo Vidal quickly matched his feat with a brace of his own for Juventus against Lazio. Borja Valero was predictably the catalyst for Fiorentina as they hammered Genoa away from home, while Emmanuel Badu opened the scoring in Udinese's 3-1 victory over Parma and Jonathan continued his run as a surprise star so far for Walter Mazzarri's Inter in 2013-14 with an excellent performance in Sicily.
Up top are Rodrigo Palacio, who again scored in an Inter victory as the Nerazzurri's 100 per cent start was extended, and Giuseppe Rossi, whose two goals against Genoa helped Fiorentina to a comfortable away win which leaves the Viola faithful dreaming of big things to come from their No.49 over the remainder of the season.
