Brisbane Roar coach Mike Mulvey says the club are in negotiations with potential recruits at home and abroad but will only make a move for reinforcements of the highest quality.
The Roar have lost several important players since the end of last season, with Mitch Nichols, Ben Halloran and Massimo Murdocca all exiting Suncorp Stadium, among others.
Liam Miller and Diogo Ferreira have arrived from Perth Glory and Melbourne Victory respectively, and although the team remains short of options, particularly in attack, Mulvey will not be rushed as he looks to complete his squad for the 2013-14 A-League season.
"We've had a bit of turnover of players, which has been well documented," he told Goal Australia.
"So we're still looking to supplement the squad with a couple of players and that will happen in the coming weeks and months.
"We're not going to bring foreign players in for the sake of it. The four that we have on our books at the moment are all what I would deem top-tier foreign players in Besart (Berisha), Thomas (Broich), Liam (Miller) and Henrique.
"So we have one position available for a foreigner, we'll be guided by our needs but also by the salary cap. We have one or two negotiations ongoing at the moment with regard to players from here and overseas and that'll take shape and become more evident in the coming weeks."
Mulvey is not planning a major overhaul of the Roar's playing style, instead seeking to finetune the game-plan he implemented last term, while also bringing in cover for several positions.
"I think you'll see something pretty similar to what was happening previously," he said.
"I tweaked a few things when I first came in last season in certain parts of the field.
"There's not going to be a drastic change. It's all about possession-based, attacking football - and having the right personnel to do it.
"One of the things that I will be striving to do is get at least two players per position, so that the depth of the squad is much better than it was last year."
"That's an ongoing activity at the moment and I think come the start of the season we should be pretty well placed in that regard.
"We want adaptability within the squad, we want people who are capable of interchanging positions. I'm looking for intelligent footballers, I'm looking for people who can fit into the Brisbane Roar way of playing football and that's very important for us."
