The Aguias have refuted suggestions that the Paraguay international is set to leave the club

Benfica have denied holding talks with other clubs over the sale of Oscar Cardozo, with Fenerbahce rumoured to be interested in signing the striker.

The Paraguayan scored 17 goals in the Primeira Liga last season, but saw his club endure a torrid end to the campaign, losing Europa League and Portuguese Cup finals to Chelsea and Vitoria Guimaraes respectively- as well as surrendering the league to Porto by a single point.

A host of clubs have been linked with a possible transfer for the former Newell's Old Boys striker but Benfica have moved to quash rumours of an imminent exit.

"We would like to inform you that Oscar Cardozo is a Benfica player," read a statement on the club's official website.

"And at this time there has been no contact with any other club about him."

Cardozo was recently forced to apologise after shoving coach Jorge Jesus after the 2-1 Portuguese Cup defeat to Vitoria Guimaraes, but the Lisbon-based outfit have stressed that there is no desire on their part to see him leave.
