Atletico Madrid executive Gil Marin has admitted they are looking at the possibility of replacing Radamel Falcao with Sevilla attacker Alvaro Negredo.
Atleti were recently crowned Copa del Rey champions but are facing the reality of losing their talismanic Colombian striker to one of Europe's elite.
The Liga club's chief executive has stated the board are already planning for the forward's conceivable departure by setting their sights on Sevilla's front man.
"It is my obligation to look at the market," the Rojiblancos boss told ABC.
"Falcao leaving the club is an important possibility, therefore I have to advise and ask to speak with different people.
"And yes, I spoke with [Sevilla president] Jose Maria del Nido. I said to him that if we get rid of Falcao, we were thinking about Negredo.
"We will talk about it at the end of the season. There is enough time to assess what is suitable for all parties. Up front Negredo is one of the options presented to us by the market. We all know what level he is at."
The Spanish striker, whose contract runs out in 2016, has netted 26 times in 40 appearances for Sevilla this season.
