thumbnail Hello,

The Vicente Calderon is tired of the speculation around his star forward, who he thinks will be a game-changer in the Copa del Rey final

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has brushed off speculation linking Radamel Falcao with Monaco.

Rumours surfaced on Thursday that the striker is set to join the cash-rich French club in the summer for a whopping €60 million, with a pay packet per year set at a pocket-bulging €10m.

However, the Vicente Calderon chief revealed his frustration at the continued transfer saga around his star striker and instead looked ahead to the Copa del Rey final on May 17 against Real Madrid, which he believes Falcao can turn in Atleti's favour.

"Now Falcao's going to Monaco? We are going to go around the whole world!" he told reporters on Friday. "Falcao is a specialist at playing in finals and, in the end, he can help us win them.

"Finals are there to be won but nothing is easy and we intend to go out there with all the enthusiasm in the world to achieve success."

Cerezo refused to accept that Jose Mourinho's public arguments with a number of his players this week will affect the Blancos' morale but insists that Atleti will go into the clash at the Santiago Bernabeu with every belief they can lift the trophy.

"That thing about fishermen profiting in an untidy river is not completely true," he added. "Madrid are a great team. We will go into the game with excitement, with a strong will and with a desire to win against Real Madrid in their own stadium."

Atleti's last success in the Copa del Rey came in 1996 when they beat Barcelona in extra-time.
