Galliani: Milan must finish third

The Rossoneri CEO has said that finishing in the top three is imperative for the club this season and that they must start next term better than they began this one

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has demanded that the club finish inside Serie A's top three to secure Champions League football next season.

A defeat to Juventus at the weekend - combined with Fiorentina beating Torino - means the Rossoneri have just a one-point lead over fourth place.

"We must only think of the next five games. It is crucial for us that we keep hold of third place,” the Milan CEO told reporters.

"Comebacks are always difficult - on Sunday we lost for the first time in a long time and because of that we are still at risk.

"Next season we must have a better start [than we did this year]. We cannot concede the same sort of points difference again.

"The important thing now is to keep up and try to get as many points as possible."
